How to prevent hair loss and stimulate hair growth?

I have thinning hair in the front part of my head and on the back of my head.  I have a thyroid problem, and it is in the process of being corrected.  I have been changing my diet towards a healthier one which has incorporated more fruits and vegetable in it.  Does anyone know of any product that can actually regrow hair that isn't so expensive?

One of the main reasons for male and female pattern baldness is improper circulation in the scalp.  One of the cheapest - it's free - methods of increasing hair growth is scalp massage.  In many of the hair-growth products that are sold today, the part that works is the massaging they recommend.

To see if scalp massage will help you, place your fingertips on your scalp - one hand on each side of your head.  Now try to move your scalp.  A scalp that is delivering a healthy amount of blood to the hair follicles and does not strangle the follicle moves easily when manipulated.  In order for sufficient blood to reach each hair follicle and for each follicle to have enough room to accommodate healthy growth, the scalp needs to be relaxed and moveable.

If your scalp does not move easily, use your fingertips to massage it until it does.  One massage a day will change the amount of hair you can grow if a tight scalp is your problem.

I have been using Minoxidil and am very happy with the results.  Originally it was only found in the product Rogaine.  But you can now obtain it on Amazon in the generic form.  I think is was $19 for a 3 month supply.

Adequate amount of water should be consumed daily and the food intake should be protein rich, available in various fruits and dairy produce. Hair growth can be stimulated by applying henna (Mehndi) leaves boiled in mustard oil.
A mixture of equal quantity of fresh amla juice and lime juice when used as a shampoo stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss. Amla oil prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconut oil is considered a valuable hair tonic. This is a very simplest and best natural remedy for hair loss.

    Hi Riaha,

It is likely your hair loss will stabilize and regrow with treatment of your thyroid.  If it doesn't, or if you start to suffer from genetic hair loss, stick to FDA approved treatments.  For women, this would be a 2% minoxidil solution.  It stops hair loss in 85% of users, and regrows hair in 40% of users.  Use it six months to see if it works for you.  Also, during the first 2-3 weeks you may notice a little more shedding than usual -- don't worry this just means it is working, and new hair is pushing out old hair that had stopped growing.  Good luck!
