Indian Chai- My Way
By rlaha
Hello fellow hubbers! Here is a wonderful Indian Chai (tea) recipe for you. I normally make this when it is really cold out, but also drink it just whenever I feel like it. The spices help to warm me up. I hope you enjoy this as well.
Ingredients (for 2 cups):
1. Water- 1 and 3/4 cups
2. Milk- 1/2 cup (any kind of milk you normally use)
3. Sugar- to taste (I don't put any in because I like my tea without sugar)
4. Ginger powder- 1/4 teaspoon OR 1/8 clove of whole garlic cut into halves (optional)
5. Black pepper- 1/8 teaspoon
6. Clove-1 whole
7. Tea leaves- 2 teaspoons OR 2 teabags
Preparation:
Pour water and milk into a saucepan and bring to a simmer on medium. Add tea leaves or tea bags to the simmering pot. Then turn heat up to medium high and let tea steep into the water as it boils. Next add spices and continue to boil. The spices should be boiled into the tea for at least 5 minutes. Then turn heat to low-medium and simmer for a minute. Then turn off and let everything sit until boiling and simmering have stopped.
If you have used tea leaves, use a strainer to strain the tea leaves as you are pouring the tea into the cups. If you have used tea bags, you can use a spoon to prevent the tea bags from falling into the cups as you are pouring the tea. This preparation serves 2 people but you can adjust the quantities for more people if you need to.
I hope you try to prepare this tea. It is really tasty and makes me feel warm. I hope it will help you to feel good too. As always, comments, thoughts and ideas are greatly welcomed!
